Bacon With Scrambled Egg

Yeah, tonight I tried making scrambled egg by adding evaporated milk and viola! It was yummilicious that my dearest Bebe ate 6 slices of gardenia bread with the bacon & scrambled egg. And we watch the ghost story Disc 5.

Too bad, I didn't take any pic of the scrambled eggs.

Dinner for Two

Happy Deepavali!

This morning, I woke up at 8.30am, and prepare my marketing list as followed:

Things to buy:
  1. 1 pk of Minced Pork
  2. 2 tube of Extra Smooth Silken Tofu
  3. 1 cube of Chinese Silken Tofu
  4. 1 pk of Baby Brussels
  5. 1 pc Century Egg
  6. A pk of potatoes
  7. A pk of Dodo Fish Balls
  8. A pk of Dodo Crab Sticks
  9. A pk of Seafood Tofu
  10. A pk of Beef Balls
  11. A bottle of Spicy Pork Floss
At around 10.30am, I went down to buy 2 packets of yummy Nasi Lemak + 2 chicken wings, which were Bebe's favourite. Then I proceed with my marketing list. It costs me around $22 in total. Was thinking of making 3 dish & 1 soup for tonight. Though it was my 1st attempt, I am pretty confidence that the food will turn out edible. Lol.

My 3 dish & 1 soup consist of:
  1. Stir-fried Baby Brussels with Garlic
  2. Minced Pork Tofu with Crab Stick & Potatoes
  3. Tofu with Sweet, Sour & Spicy sauce, topped with Spicy Pork Floss & Century Egg
  4. Zhap Ba Lang Soup: Chicken Broth, Beef Balls, Crab Sticks, Fish Balls, Seafood Tofu & Potatoes
I reached home around 11.30am and started washing the vege, and preparing soup base. It was quite fun for me. First, I boiled the chicken broth with 1.5 cans of water. Meanwhile cubed the potatoes and halved the crab sticks. After rinsing the fish balls, beef balls & seafood tofu, I threw in all the ingredients for the soup. Then, I proceed to marinated the minced pork as followed:
  • 1 tbsp dark soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp corn flour
  • a pinch of sugar
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • a few dashes of white pepper powder
Once the soup is ready, I scooped out the ingredients and set aside for tonight. I sliced the silken tofu & prepare all other ingredients all to be set aside for tonight.

We had our nasi lemak at around 1pm, whilst watching "The Mist". It was a freaking horrifying & tense movie that made both of us panicked from the beginning till the end. It is a 2007 horror film written and directed by Frank Darabont, who had previously adapted the 1980 novella of Stephan King's work. Click here for more review.

Woohoo, finally it is dinner time, took me almost 40minutes to whip out all the dishes and soup. I was sweating and felt full even before we started eating.

Comments from Bebe: "Wah, this is the first time you cook a meal, taste not bad! But cannot be considered as fantastic because the quantity for 2pax is too much, & you should not have add in crab stick in the Minced Pork Tofu with Potatoes."

Roger that! Haha, luckily he loves the Mango sago which I made yesterday as he had a turn round of it from yesterday's leftover this afternoon.

Long Weekend

Wow, this week is a long weekend, because Monday is Deepavali, yeah!

Yesterday after giving Eng. compo lessons at Oxley (previously Psalms), Bebe suggested to have steamboat dinner. So, we thought of getting a steamboat+tepanyaki set. Before checking out at AMK Hub's NTUC, we went to rent two DVDs " Breed" & "The Mist" and HK drama (Jia Hao Yue Yuan) from Rowell.

Finally we reach AMK Hub, however, the queue to enter the carpark was so long and we waited for around 20 minutes. Sigh... Our stomaches were growling by then. There we saw two designs priced around SGD$70. Then, we proceed to Courts, hoping to find more selection there.

On our way to Courts, we passed by a hawker centre and settled down with two yumilicious bowls of prawn noodles. We gobbled down the noodles hungrily and finished off the sinful soup. With our full stomaches, we dragged our feet to Courts and were pretty disappointed that there was not a single sight of any steamboat set. Since we were already very full, we decided to head back home instead.

This morning, I searched through the internet on "Mango Sago", and decided to try it out. I went down to the market and bought lots of stuffs! Things I bought: a packet of corn flour, a packet sugar, a can of evaporated milk, a packet of mini sago, a packet of fresh peel mango juice, 4 mangoes, a can of apricots, a loaf of gardenia bread, a can of bacon and Tong Yi instant noodles. Also, I bought the PC Mahjong game which Bebe wanted to buy yesterday!

In the afternoon, Sally visited us to discuss on our insurance. After that, I have my 1st attempt in making "Mango Sago"! Haha, it was simple and fun, I really enjoyed that and was pretty satisfied with the result. Except for the mini sago, it was too soft I think. But overall I would give myself a 8/10. Bebe grinned as he saw me doing that as I seldom or rather rarely cook. And I was so glad that he loves it! Woohoo! Tomorrow, I am thinking of whipping up some simple home cooked food. Hopefully the dishes turn out well or at least acceptable! Bebe, please bear with me, I will try my best! Well, I gonna check out more recipes now! Also, I have updated my blog today with tons of links and recipes, heehee.
